Consultancy

Evans Optometric Consultancy Ltd (EOC) provides research consultancy to the corporate sector, ranging from large multinational companies to small local businesses. We have worked with spectacle lens manufacturers, contact lens manufacturers, pharmaceutical companies, and other organisations.

Some consultancy work involves NDAs and remains confidential to the contracting company. In other cases, contracts includes clauses requiring publication of the work in peer-reviewed journals, typically some time after the company receives a report on the work and a presentation. We have also carried out consultancy projects which/that have led to lecturing contracts, including roadshows to clinicians, described in Lecturing.

The EOC team collectively have over 100 years of experience in the fields of optometry, vision science, contact lenses, electrophysiology, psychophysics, colour vision, and orthoptics. Title	Summary
Literature reviews to inform the company and ECPs.	In several projects, EOC has been approached by companies to undertake a literature review that will be of interest to the corporate partner and eye care practitioners. A literature review is funded that is initially used to inform the leadership team and sometimes workforce of the corporate partner, and subsequently converted into a review article for publication in peer-reviewed journals, presentation at academic and clinical conferences. The work can be further disseminated to eye care practitioners at roadshows.
Round table participation	The EOC team have contributed to many round table discussions organised by companies to further understanding in a certain topic. Some of these activities have remained confidential, solely for the benefit of the contracting company. In other cases, the output has been published.
Literature reviews for confidential use of funding company for mergers & acquisitions.	In this type of work, EOC is approached by an organisation considering the purchase of a product or another company producing a product of interest. EOC produce a confidential report identifying and summarising in plain English the evidence-base, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats associated with the product.
Data analysis of product sales statistics	The EOC team includes considerable expertise in data analysis. Some of our corporate partners have rich datasets of sales data on their products. Analyses of these datasets can reveal important trends over time or contrasts (e.g., between different countries or marketplaces). We can produce outputs in the form of reports and or presentations to corporate clients.
Analysis of large dataset of vision screening data	A company funded time for the EOC team analysing data and preparing three publications for presentation at international conferences and publication in peer-reviewed journals. This work was completed in 2026, fully acknowledging the funding company.
Product research	Typically, a company requests that EOC evaluate a product, from their own range or that of a competitor, to identify the strengths and weakness of the product. EOC does not have extensive facilities for undertaking clinical trials, but may be able to assist with product evaluation or small-scale clinical evaluations.
Market data analysis	One of the EOC team has trained in actuarial science and business analytics. They have experience with financial market data and we are happy to discuss your needs further to work towards a bespoke solutions for your business needs.
